There is a Reason

Woman on bed.It happens, we are working towards a goal and suddenly progress gets halted due to an unexpected delay or challenge. It can be really disheartening and may even lead you to question the true nature of your own strengths. Though it may seem cruel at the time, life has a way of unfolding to show your true strength and resilience.

There are difficulties that have the potential to change the course of our lives and they often require that we take time to heal, to reassess what we want and what we need. It may be a serious illness, a divorce, a career change, or the loss of a loved one. Having the ability to endure, let alone persevere, after such an ordeal may seem like an unimaginable feat, but it is possible. You may be facing struggles, but know that you are never alone in those struggles. It is possible to experience devastation and to come through it with a newfound strength that has the capacity to uplift the lives of others.

There are moments that continue to present themselves that hold within them opportunities to support us through the difficulty. As painful as it may be, if we want to move through the challenge we must allow ourselves to be open to accepting the present circumstance. When we close ourselves to the present reality we resist the spiritual, emotional and physical resources that have been placed in our lives to support and guide us. Struggling to hold on to something that no longer exists will distract you from seeing the possibility of moving forward.

Often, the difficulty has impacted our lives so deeply that we can’t even fathom the possibility of gathering the courage and strength to face it. It is during this time of uncertainty that we find the most unlikely encounters that can serve to inspire, encourage and support us. If we allow these resources to guide us, we can tap into our own power to endure. With each little step forward we begin to uncover a newfound strength and resilience. As we continue to discover untapped resources within ourselves our personal strength begins to grow and we find it easier to take each new step. Later on, when you look back on the challenge you faced, you realize that these situations, experiences and people who helped you to find your strength and courage were all there for a reason. They brought you to where you needed to be to experience what you needed to experience. It may not seem fair that you had to experience such hardship but it happened, and that you cannot change. The strength and resilience that you now embody is a part of you and that too has the capacity not only to change you but to change those around you.

During your time of need, the right people and the right opportunities will come into your life. These people help you to find your way because they exude strength and resilience since they too have also faced great challenges. When you have possessed the ability to endure hardship it places you in the unique position to be able to help another while also healing your own deepest hurts.

“You may never realize it, but some of the greatest gifts you will ever give will come from the place of your most profound hurt.” (Dr. Julie Doobay)
