There are times when it seems that things just keep happening to us, and we can end up feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. It is only when we lose sight of who we are and what we really want to achieve that we end up feeling helpless. Each decision that we make, each action that we take, is created from an intention.
When we lose awareness of our choices, it becomes easy to automatically respond the way that we always have, out of habit. By bringing attention to our conditioned impulse to act, or not to act, we can become more conscious of our behaviour. With this new awareness, we can open our eyes to see how our actions or inactions have impacted our current state. In every situation, you choose how to respond and even not responding is in itself an action with consequences. A greater understanding of your intentions opens the door to reveal choices that you were unable to see before.
Our life is an accumulation of the actions we have taken. Whether we are aware of it or not, our intentions determine our actions. If we don’t like the way our life is headed, we need to be more conscious of our intentions.
The very act of bringing attention to our intentions can bring us to a deeper understanding of who we are and why we do the things we do. When we develop the habit of noticing our intentions, it becomes much easier to make decisions that resonate with the life that we want. We can choose to act in a way that is aligned with who we are and what we want to achieve.
When the body is better able to get information to and from the brain a better sense of awareness is attained. At BodyMind Wellness Studio, we focus on reconnecting the body and mind, increasing awareness of the body and breath, and optimizing the functioning of the spine and the nervous system. The initial phase of care at the office is a process of self-discovery, as the body and mind share information that had been blocked before.
One of my favourite things to hear in the office is from a patient just beginning care saying, “I don’t know if this has anything to do with the care but…
- I’ve noticed that I stand straighter
- I have started making healthier food choices
- I feel happier, feel peaceful, more often
- Things don’t bother me as much
- I can breathe deeper
- People seem to be nicer to me
- I feel more like myself
